Introduction
Stichting OpenGit was legally established on 16 December 2024 in Leiden, the Netherlands.
Since we were founded at the end of the year, we will use the annual report for 2024 as a kind of trial run before our first full fiscal year ends on 31 December 2025. Constructive feedback regarding the reporting is of course always welcome.
What happened?
- Q1 - The idea of OpenGit took shape more and more, with initial work on the basics of the foundation.
- Q2 - High-level designs and sketches were made regarding the infrastructure and the software we intended to use.
- Q3 - Explanations and presentations were given to various people regarding the ideas. This directly led to the participation of the first board members. We received our first donation.
- Q4 - Development of the basic website, operational wiki, more detailed work regarding the finances and infrastructure as well as the legal creation and registration of the foundation as a legal entity.

Above-average Donors & Sponsors

The original initiator of Stichting OpenGit, Martijn van der Kleijn, sponsors all costs regarding hosting, domain names, etc. for 2024.

Yubico sponsored the foundation by accepting Stichting OpenGit into their “Secure It Forward” program & by providing a number of YubiKeys that can be used by the foundation in securing its activities and systems.
Budget for 2025
A provisional budget for 2025 is listed below and, where necessary, updated in Q1 of 2025. These are the known and estimated values for 2025 at this time. Values may change during the year, for example when more donations are received than expected.

2) Hosting costs are currently unknown and are (largely) covered by the original initiator in a personal capacity.

Plans for 2025
High-level plans for 2025 include, but are not limited to:
- Creation of both a five-year policy plan (2025–2030) as well as the policy plan for 2025;
- Visiting FOSDEM 2025;
- More extensive contact with the Forgejo & Codeberg organizations;
- Attracting more sponsorships and donors;
- Designing, testing, and setting up production-grade services;
- Going live with our services;
